MCR is always on the look out for quality, safety focused people to join our team. MCR is a growing service provider to the rail industry with work available 7 days a week, day and night. The main area in high demand is Safe Working and in particular Protection Officers. A Protection Officer is a person who is qualified to implement varying levels of work site protection within the rail corridor, and is responsible for the safety of the workers working there. STEPS TO BECOMING A PROTECTION OFFICER

Information Session

Contact the MCR office on (02) 98977557 or michelle@mcrail.com.au to attend an information session or to find out more about becoming a Protection Officer.

Medical & Qualifications

  • Complete a RSCW Cat 1 medical through a Sydney Trains approved medical centre.

  • Complete a RISI course & Protection Officer theory course at an approved Registered Training 

On Job Training

  • MCR will provide the details of a mentor to help you complete your On Job Training

  • Arrange for a Protection Officer who is qualified in each task in your On Job Workbook to instruct and supervise you performing the task. After doing so, get them to sign the workbook indicating you have demonstrated competence

In House Training

  • Attend MCR in house training to recap the basics and go through a range of different scenarios

  • Book & complete Protection Officer assessment with TfNSW

  • Receive ongoing MCR training and toolbox talks and be able to start working!
